Teen Disciples bring together all those of High School age who have enrolled in our online Faith Formation program.
In between the two mid-morning Sunday Masses, every week the parish youth from all backgrounds are provided opportunities to integrate their energy, their shared knowledge of faith and their God-given gifts and abilities.
Once a month they gather formally to explore the Scriptures, learning about Christ, discovering how to become better and authentic disciples, responding to God's grace already in their lives.
On Sundays the Teen Disciples are invited to help with welcoming parishioners to church, becoming trained public readers, ushering during the Mass, helping with the offerings, and engaging in service projects on behalf of the Church.
Opportunities to train to become street and door to door evangelists will also be given in order to build up ongoing expectations of Christian service throughout the week.
Teen Disciples are also young men and women preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation while others who have already been Confirmed continue to provide witness value and encouragement.
All in all, Teen Disciples are encouraged and prepared to be authentic Christians amid the challenges, opportunities, and demands of the world they experience around them. If you have any questions or want to join the group, please contact Arnaldo Gutierrez at 619-894-9713 or via email at [email protected].
Sacrament of Confirmation
Young men and women of high school age who are involved with Teen Disciples can be recommended by their peers and young adult mentors to forward themselves to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Their work and progress is overseen by the parish youth leaders and mentors who touch base with them every Sunday and test them through the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit that they expect to be sealed with through the Sacrament of Confirmation.
