Although separate from church ministries, these associations and groups support the mission of the parish and the Local Church and beyond.
Many of our parishioners are active members of these organizations while our local clergy provides pastoral guidance and support to their members.
Some of our parish partners have their own maintained webpage or contact information. You can also call the parish office and we can provide contact information.
The Knights serve as ushers at Mass and help with refreshments afterward. They are often called upon to be the strong backbone behind many parish events. Talk to any of the parish Knights after any of the Sundays about membership details and how to be involved in the largest fraternity of men in the United States. Meets in Murray Hall. Call for details.
Our family settings often change, and so do we, when our children grow up and move out. At a time when many begin thinking or planning for retirement, or when our family dynamics change, it's also important to find new opportunities to continue living life with the gifts and wisdom God has given us through the years. The 50 Plus Club exists to provide opportunities for social interaction, recreation, volunteerism, and community outreach, keeping the gifts of the Holy Spirit alive. Meets in the Parish Social Center. Call for details.
WRAPPED IN LOVE welcomes women and men in our community who enjoy meeting a couple of hours each week to socialize and to create items to benefit the needy.
Wrapped in Love meets on Wednesday mornings in the Social Center Lounge from 10:00 to 12:00 to chat, knit, crochet and work on fleece blankets. Our group is open to anyone – not just parishioners. No skills are necessary – we can show you how.
Some projects are done for the personal needs of those who attend, but most are made to distribute to the needy. All materials for the donated items are purchased through donations from our church community. Donations can be made in the form of gift cards for JoAnn’s Fabrics, yarn and cash. With these donations, we complete blankets, hats and booties for infants, scarves, lap quilts and fleece blankets for adults and youths. Some of the beneficiaries of our crafts have been The Salvation Army Door of Hope, Catholic Charities Immigration Services, The Alpha Project Bridge shelter, the Military YMCA and the Ronald Mc Donald House.
Questions, comments and/or suggestions for projects may be sent to: Wrapped in Love at St. Therese Parish, 6400 St. Therese Way, San Diego, CA.. 92120. Attention Flo Helms or contact Flo at (619) 582-5229
Going beyond simply reading the Bible, two Scripture fellowships exist locally to help bring God's Word into daily life, integrating its enduring message and direction into every aspect of our lives.
Supporting the Church's mission to know Our Heavenly Father in the Spirit of Christ, the Living Word of God, two "Bible Study" Groups meet at various locations around or close to the parish church.
The Rest Stop (Scripture for Men) and Walking with Purpose (Scripture for Women) each provide home-spun environments to gently and effectively discern the Holy Scriptures within an environment of fellowship and trust. Call for locations and times.
Our parish-based Scouting program affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America meets every week to encourage our local scouts to grow stronger both spiritually and stronger. Through faith and works, the scout's body and soul are put to the test through group work, retreats, hiking, campouts, survival skills, merit badge programs, and many more activities.
